- NRCS Map Units for these series include "bench" phases
- The "bench phase" map units occur on terraces that have a surface mantle of late Wisconsinan loess.
- Particularly in western Iowa, these map units, if low in the landscape, can be underlain by early-middle Holocene Gunder Member alluvium, not loess.
